A 26-year-old man of Lot 11 Public Road Somerset, Essequibo Coast is in police custody after he allegedly stabbed his 39-year-old Uncle to death in the wee hours of Sunday.
Police Headquarters said that Olrick Da Costa and his nephew had an argument over a stolen cell phone at around 01:30hrs Sunday at the Somerset house when Da Costa assaulted the nephew.
Police said that the nephew retaliated and stabbed Da Costa in the abdomen with a knife.
The man was rushed to the Charity Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival; the body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
The alleged murder weapon was recovered.
