17-Y-0 accused of stabbing pregnant girlfriend, released on self-bail
A 17-year-old boy was on Monday released on self-bail for allegedly wounding his 16-year-old girlfriend, who is six months pregnant.
The teen appeared before Magistrate Anneth Singh, who is sitting at the Children Court at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on January 30, 2019, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he wounded the teenager by stabbing her in the head with a sharp object.
He is expected to return to court on February 22, 2019.
According to reports, the two had an argument during which the accused became annoyed and stabbed her.
The pregnant girl is still hospitalized.
Her father expressed much dissatisfaction with the way matter is being handled asked for it to be transferred to another court.
The victim and accused cannot be named for legal reasons.
