A 61-year-old fruit vendor was on Monday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old disabled girl.

Octus Williams was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that the incident occurred on January 31, 2019, in Georgetown.

According to reports, Williams pulled the teen into a room and committed the act.

The victim’s father came into the room and caught Williams as he was putting his pants back on.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, during his objection to bail, told the court that Williams is a second-time offender and was charged in 2016 with a similar offence.

The Chief Magistrate remanded Williams to prison until February 6, 2019.
