    One dead in early morning accident

    Police are investigating an early morning accident on Princes Street, Georgetown that claimed the life of  35-year-old Trevin Butters.

    News Room understands that at around 03:45hrs, Butters, the driver of motor car PNN 8969, slammed into a parked truck – GFF 9764 0 belonging to the Mayor and City Council.

    Injured is 25-year-old Natasha Sobers of Wales, West Bank Demerara, who was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital in an unconscious state. She was flung from the car.

    Eyewitness, Terry Bruce told News Room that the car was proceeding west along the southern side of Princes Street at a fast rate.

    “He start knocking these white posts [here] like about 200ft away coming down…and he end up lash the truck… she end up pitch out and [ended up] on the truck.

    Bruce said that the driver died on the spot and his body ended up in the passenger side of the car.

    Bruce further noted that the Guyana Fire Service had to be summoned to remove Butters’ body from the car.

    News Room understands that truck has been parked for about two months at the location.

    When News Room visited the scene, the truck was still parked there along with others.

    An investigation into the accident is underway.
