Ten second division teams will hunt for the top prize of $60,000 and a trophy on February 24 when the Young Warriors Cricket Club (YWCC) of East Berbice stages a one-day, five-over cricket competition at the Cumberland ground, East Canje, Berbice.

According to one of the coordinators, Satanand Mahabir, an exciting competition is in the making as second division players in the Ancient County are eager to go at each other in this fast-paced version of the game.

Action will bowl off at 09:00h, with YWCC, the home club of Guyana and West Indies prodigy Shimron Hetmyer, Good Banana Land, Gangaram, Adelphi, Seawall, Canefield, Number 19, Rose Hall Canje, Tucber Park and Edinburg set to battle for supremacy.

The losing finalist will pocket $30,000 and a trophy, while the Man-of-the-Match in the final will receive $5,000 and a trophy. Tech Gadgets would be presented to the player with the most runs and most wickets.

In addition to these prizes, the cricketers would also be rewarded for hitting any of the four Stag Beer flags that would be placed at strategic points of the ground.

Admission to the venue is free.
