After a brilliant bowling effort in the second innings, Guyana Jaguars closed day three of their seventh round PCL Four-day game against Jamaica Scorpions 25-0, chasing 170 for an outright win.

The Jaguars, four-time defending champions, will start Sunday, the final day, needing another 145 to win with openers Chandrapaul Hemraj on 16 and Tagenarine Chanderpaul on nine.

Jaguars position was set up by the bowlers, who dismissed Scorpions cheaply in the second innings after they (Jaguars) conceded a first innings advantage of 37.

Resuming the day on 203-5 in response to Scorpions’ 358, Jaguars were dismissed for 321 just after lunch. Anthony Bramble ended on 45 not out, Christopher Barnwell made 42, Raymon Reifer 27 and Romario Shepherd 18 to back up half-centuries from Vishaul Singh (61) and Leon Johnson (58).

Jerome Taylor (3-27) and Dennis Bulli (3-91) were the pick of the bowlers for Scorpions, who mustered 132 all out in their second knock.

Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers with 3-11; Reifer bagged 3-36 and Barnwell 2-18. Guyanese Assad Fudadin topscored with 24, while Chadwick Walton and Jermaine Blackwood made 23 each.

A win for Jaguars on Sunday would solidify their position at the top of the points table, and renew their confidence after losses in the last two matches.
