Rio Manager charged for using club as a Brothel

A 32-year-old Manager attached to Rio Inn appeared before City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus charged with the offence of operating a brothel at a registered business.

Andy Bynoe known as ‘Montana’ pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that, between November 1, 2018, and February 5, 2019, at Forshaw Street Queenstown, Georgetown, while being the manager of Rio Inn and Cafe, he knowingly used the building as a brothel.

Bynoe was represented by Attorney-at-law, Keoma Griffith; Police Prosecutor, Quinn Harris made no objection to bail but requested that conditions be attached if the accused is granted pre-trial liberty.

He was released on $30,000 bail with the condition that he report to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Headquarters at Eve Leary every Friday until the completion of the trial.

The matter will be recalled on February 18, 2019.

Note: A brothel is a place where people engage in sexual activity with prostitutes. Technically, any premises where prostitution commonly takes place qualifies as a brothel.
