Milo football: Annandale, Lodge dominate opening weekend
The seventh annual Milo Schools Football tournament kicked off at the weekend with two of the 24 participating teams sending a stern warning to their competitors.
Annandale Secondary and Lodge Secondary recorded the biggest margins of victory when action commenced at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
On Saturday, Annandale crushed a spirited St. Joseph’s High 7-1. The Woolford Avenue unit took an early lead through Warren Williams in the 19th minute, but afterwards it was one-way traffic.
Jerome Harrigon got a hat-trick, while Jemar Harrigon, Omari Glasgow, Colin Hendriques and Anika Headley added a goal each for Annandale.
A brace from Malachi Richards, along with solitary strikes from Antoine Herod, Acquino Luke and Linford Isles allowed The Bishops’ High School to defeat North Ruimveldt Multilateral Secondary 5-0. St. Stanislaus then pipped Queen’s College 2-1.
On Sunday, President’s College and Marian Academy produced a 1-1 draw, followed by Canje Secondary edging South Ruimveldt 1-0.
Lodge Secondary then decimated St. Mary’s 6-0. Shemroy Meyers had a double (18th ,47th) and goals also came crashing in from Marcus Bamfield (30th), Leroy Sealy (32nd), Nicholas Trotman (52nd) and Triston Louisey (64th).
The tournament continues on weekends at the same venue, finishing on April 14.
