Heeman Gocool and Khemraj Persaud appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty Tuesday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with the murder of 53-year-old Rohan ‘Khanhai’ Persaud, of Samatta Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara.

The men were not required to plea to the charge, which alleged that they stabbed Persaud to death on February 13, 2019, at Samatta Point, Grove.

Police Prosecutor Dominic Bess asked the court for a three-week adjournment for the police file to be completed.

The accused were remanded to prison and Magistrate McGusty adjourned the matter to March 12, 2019.

According to reports Gocool and Persaud were friends with the victim.

News Room had reported that Gocool and the victim were engaged in heated arguments after the victim accused him of having an affair with his wife.

It is alleged that men were arguing when Gocool took a Stingray bone [fish bone] and stabbed Persaud in the abdomen.

Gocool and Khemraj Persaud ran away and left the injured man bleeding on the road.

News Room understands Gocool had moved into the house with Persaud (the victim) and his wife some three weeks prior and since then Persaud had accused him of having an affair with his wife.

Due to the constant arguments between the two men, the woman had moved out of the house.
