Plane crash survivors rescued by GDF

A team from the Guyana Defence Force special forces on Monday night rescued a pilot and a policeman who survived a plane crash aback Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara.   

The Pilot has been identified as Captain Lincoln Gomez who suffered a broken jaw while Michael Grimmond, a member of the Guyana Police Force, broke his leg. 

News Room understands that the single-engine aircraft crashed after running out of fuel at around 18:44hrs Monday.

 At the time of the crash, the Pilot and Policeman were transporting a corpse from Region 7 (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) to the Eugene F Correia International Airport. 

News Room understands that the Cessna 182 bearing American registration N8704T, is owned by Gospel Ministries International out of Tennessee, USA. 

 The corpse it was transporting has been identified as Christopher Matthews, missionary and director of the Kaikan Bible School in Guyana who fell off a mountain and was killed earlier in the day.
