A 19-year-old Nursing Student appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly Friday charged with the improper use of a telecommunication system after she allegedly created a fake Facebook account and bullied her friend.
Nanshalee Bowen of Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between November 14, 2018, and December 14, 2018, at Georgetown, she created the fake Facebook profile and sent messages to Omeika Frank.
Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh did not object to bail but asked that conditions are attached.
The accused was released on $20,000 bail and the matter was adjourned to February 27, 2019.
According to reports, both Bowen and Frank are friends and students at the Guyana School of Nursing.
However, sometime in November 2018, Frank received a Facebook message from an account named ‘Perfectly Bhad’ and was threatened.
Frank reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department and an analysis was done on Bowen’s phone when detectives discovered the fake account.
