Back Circle and Sparta Boss will contest the final of the second annual Magnum Mash Cup after two contrasting semi-finals on Sunday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Defending champions Bent Street seemed on course for a second straight final when a Daniel Wilson double put them 2-0 ahead. Wilson netted in the ninth and 13th minutes.

However, Back Circle drew level through Stephon McLean, who scored two goals within seven minute (20th and 27th) to force the game to penalties.

In sudden death penalty kicks, Back Circle prevailed 6-5 to ensure the competition would have a new champion this year. In the other semi-final, Sparta Boss trounced Gold is Money 9-3.

Ryan Hackett with a hat-trick (33rd, 35th, 38th) and doubles from Jermain Junior (2nd, 11th) , Gregory Richardson (12th, 15th) and Sheldon Shepherd (21st, 36th) accounted for Sparta Boss’ goals, while Randolph Wagner with a double (30th, 39th) and Hubert Pedro (7th) scored for Gold is Money.

Back Circle and Sparta Boss would now clash in the grand final on March 2 at the National Gymnasium, with the winner taking home $600,000 cash and a trophy.

The competition is organised by SannSports in partnership with Ansa McAl Trading and the National Sports Commission.
