Back Circle, Sparta Boss through to Magnum Mash Cup final

Back Circle and Sparta Boss will contest the final of the second annual Magnum Mash Cup after two contrasting semi-finals on Sunday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Defending champions Bent Street seemed on course for a second straight final when a Daniel Wilson double put them 2-0 ahead. Wilson netted in the ninth and 13^th minutes.

However, Back Circle drew level through Stephon McLean, who scored two goals within seven minute (20^th and 27^th) to force the game to penalties.

In sudden death penalty kicks, Back Circle prevailed 6-5 to ensure the competition would have a new champion this year. In the other semi-final, Sparta Boss trounced Gold is Money 9-3.

Ryan Hackett with a hat-trick (33^rd, 35^th, 38^th) and doubles from Jermain Junior (2^nd, 11^th) , Gregory Richardson (12^th, 15^th) and Sheldon Shepherd (21^st, 36^th) accounted for Sparta Boss’ goals, while Randolph Wagner with a double (30^th, 39^th) and Hubert Pedro (7^th) scored for Gold is Money.

Back Circle and Sparta Boss would now clash in the grand final on March 2 at the National Gymnasium, with the winner taking home $600,000 cash and a trophy.

The competition is organised by SannSports in partnership with Ansa McAl Trading and the National Sports Commission.
