Motorcyclist killed in West Side accident
A 44-year-old Hire Car driver of Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara (WCD) is in police custody after he allegedly collided with a motorcyclist just after midnight on Monday on the Vreed-en-Hoop Public Road, WCD.
Dead is Nial Persaud of Lot 635 Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
Police Headquarters revealed that the car, HC 4991 and the motorcycle CH 7218 were proceeding east along the northern carriageway at the time of the accident.
The car’s driver alleged that he put on his indicator to turn south and in the process doing so, the motorcyclist collided with him, fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries to his head and body.
He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
A Breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the car and no alcohol was detected; he is in custody assisting with the investigation.
