U-15 CRICKET: Wins for Demerara and President’s XI

The Guyana Cricket Board’s Dave West Indian Imports and Exports Under-15 Inter-county cricket competition got underway in Georgetown on Monday with Demerara and the President’s XI recording easy wins.

At the Georgetown Cricket Club, Demerara defeated Berbice by 56 runs, while over at Everest, the President’s XI got the better of Essequibo by six wickets.

Batting first at Bourda, Demerara posted 166-7 off the allotted 50 overs with Jaden Campbell topscoring with 35, with support coming from Thaddeous Lovell (34), Mavindra Dindyal (22), Avinash Rajkumar (11*), Zachary Jodah (11) and Romeo Deonarain (10).

Berbice, in reply, were dismissed for 110 with Rampertab Ramnauth making 37 and Ravishkar Sobhai 14.

Player-of-the-Match Krisna Singh picked up 3-14 off 10 overs, while Alvin Mohabir and Lovell had 2-13 and 2-8 respectively.

Anthony Khan was voted Player-of-the-Match at Everest

At Everest, Essequibo managed 116 off 42.1 overs, with number eight batsman Aryan Doodnauth hitting 26 and Sherwin Stoll 14. Bowling for the President’s XI, Sachin Balgobin picked up 4-13 and Nityanand Mathura 2-19.

Player-of-the-Match Anthony Khan then stroked the only half-century of the day, getting to exactly 50 as the President’s XI reached the target in 30.4 overs.

Sanjay Algoo chipped in with 35. Bowling for Essequibo, Terrence Softleigh bagged 3-19.

Round two will be played today (Tuesday) with Demerara meeting the President’s XI at Everest and Essequibo facing Berbice at the Lusignan Community Centre ground.

Both matches will commence at 09:30h.
