Berbice man killed on the way to visit newborn baby, wife in hospital 

A 21-year-old first-time father was beaten to death allegedly by a known drug addict of Bennet Dam, Rosignol West Coast Berbice on Friday. 

Dead is Mohamed Arshad Ally, a Lab Attendant attached to the Blairmont Estate.  

News Room understands that the incident occurred at approximately ‪11:00‬ hrs about 400 feet away from where the young man resides in Bennet Dam. 

Information reaching the News Room revealed that the young man had just left his home en-route to the New Amsterdam Hospital to visit his 21-year-old wife who had given birth earlier in the day when he was attacked and beaten with an iron bar by a known addict identified as “Karim.” 

“When I reach to him his entire body was covered in blood and his neck had a wound. So, I quickly put him in the vehicle and rushed he to the hospital,” a close friend told News Room.  

The young man subsequently succumbed at the hospital where his wife and their first baby were. 

Ally was described as an industrious young man who was anticipating the birth of his first child. The family is still trying to come to grips with the tragic incident.  

 Ally and his wife would have celebrated their first wedding anniversary in April.  The suspect was arrested and remains in Police custody.
