Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) on Friday morning strengthened its alliance with the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), renewing a partnership that has now entered its seventh year.

The simple, but significant signing took place at DSL ‘Cash n Carry’ location at Ruimveldt, under the company’s world renowned Pepsi brand.

Present at the event were President of the GBA Steve Ninvalle, Technical Director Terrence Poole and Brand Manager Larry Wills.

Ninvalle noted that the relationship with DDL has been the longest corporate partnership the GBA has enjoyed, and it has had a significant impact on the development on boxing at the youth level.

Poole expressed gratitude to DDL for staying the course, and aiding the growth of the sport, especially at the nursery level.

Wills, in brief remarks, uttered words that would no doubt comfort the GBA executives, as they seek ways to develop and improve Guyana’s boxing stocks.

“We will continue to throw our support behind the GBA in years to come and we look forward to the partnership. DDL is all about encouraging development among the youth of this country thus our support at the grassroots level,” Wills said.

The GBA’s calendar of activities for 2019 would continue on Saturday with a competition at the Andre ‘Six Head’ Lewis gym in Albouystown.

Action will commence at 13:00h.
