Two men were on Friday each sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by City Magistrate Leron Daly for stealing a quantity of female lingerie and slippers.
Harry Mowanie and Leslie Ferdinand admitted that on January 23, 2019, at the Stabroek Market Wharf, they stole a number of brassieres, 30 pairs of slippers and 10 panties worth $391,000, the property of Mondale Rogers.
The duo was first charged back on January 25, 2019, for the offence and was remanded to prison after having no fixed place of abode. The men opted to change their plea to save the court’s time
According to reports, the victim, a businessman, left a box with the articles the Stabroek Market Wharf. The duo stole the box with the items.
The matter was reported to the police by Rogers and the duo was arrested with some of the items in their possession
