Fyrish man found dead after choking, threatening to kill wife
Hours after he was released from Police custody, a 37-year-old man who allegedly choked, beat and threatened to kill his wife, was found hanging from a rope in his veranda just after midnight Saturday at his Lot 57 Fyrish Road, Corentyne Berbice house.
Dead is Vimal Balkisoon called Navin, who was a Labourer.
News Room understands that Navin was arrested by the Police on February 27 after his wife, Christina Drepaul, 33, reported that he assaulted her.
However, he was released from Police custody on Saturday, March 2; he went home, showered and left at around 19:00hrs.
According to reports reaching News Room, Navin returned home just after midnight and attacked his sleeping wife by choking her.
She managed to free herself from his grip and ran to her mother’s house in the same yard. The woman reported that Navin threatened to kill her and himself.
Ten minutes later, the couple’s son found him hanging.
The Police were informed and arrived at the scene where they removed the body and transported it to the Port Mourant Hospital.
