Speeding car kills pedal cyclist at Reliance, Essequibo Coast

A 21-year-old man of Reliance, Essequibo Coast has died after he was struck off his bicycle by a speeding car on Sunday afternoon.

Dead is Arbie Stephens.

Police reported that motor car HC 2886, driven by Ravin Carroll of Lot 327 Richmond Housing Scheme Essequibo Coast was speeding on the road when it collided with Stephen’s on his bicycle.

Stephens sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken conveyed to the Suddie Public Hospital in an unconscious condition.

He was later transferred to the Georgetown hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the hire car was placed on bail.
