Thief caught after robbing Teacher in Sophia
A thief was on Monday caught by public-spirited citizens moments after he robbed a 20-year-old teacher of her necklace and motorcycle in front of the School at which she teaches in Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
According to police, the woman of ‘D’ Field Sophia was relieved of the items by two men at about 14:30hrs while in the process of leaving the school’s premises.
However, she raised an alarm and citizens in the area promptly caught the 33-year-old suspect of Front Road West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, with the motorcycle.
His accomplice, who goes by the alias “Red Man,” is being sought.
Police said the suspect is cooperating with investigations and is also being questioned in relation to several similar offences.
The Guyana Police Force commended the citizens who responded to the victim’s calls for assistance, for their “brave and courageous actions” and for supporting law enforcement.
An investigation is in progress.
