Quincy Benn, 41, and his 17-year-old son are now homeless after a fire destroyed their ‘D’ Field Sophia home Tuesday night.

Benn nor his son was at home when the fire started at around 21:00hrs.

Benn, who is employed at the Ministry of Agriculture, told News Room he was informed by a neighbour that his house was on fire and he rushed home.

“I leave and I go by my girl last night and when I get a call and this is what I end up hearing me house on fire,” the distraught man said.

Benn suspects arson and is blaming his ex-wife. He said since their divorce, the woman threatened him.

“Me and my wife had a little dispute and she move on…with somebody else and since then I got my divorce and she keep tormenting me all the time.

“She said she [got to] get the house and I gon got to find somewhere to go.”

According to Benn, his neighbour told him that the fire started at the back of the wooden and concrete house, however, the Police claimed that Benn had an illegal electrical connection to his home.

But Benn denied this is the case.

Benn said he and his son lost everything in the fire and are left with only the clothes on their backs.

He is now living with his brother until he can get back on his feet.
