The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has been forced to once again reschedule the first round of the Drag Racing Championship, pushing it back by a week. Set to take place on March 17, the event would now be held on March 24 at South Dakota Circuit.

“After considering and discussing several factors, the GMR&SC Executive body has made the decision to further postpone the drag race meet, which was set for March 17th, 2019. The new date for this event will now be March 24th,” the GMR&SC said in a statement on Thursday.

It added: “We do regret and sincerely apologise to all spectators and competitors for any inconvenience that this may incur.”

“However, we can assure spectators that they will be in for a treat as several high powered cars will be making their drag racing debut in Guyana on this date, including the Second Generation RX-7 of Peter Daby, the V8 powered Mitsubishi Starion of Krishna Jettoo and the long rumored ex-Ekanoo Racing Nissan GT-R, now acquired by Team Mohamed’s.”
