Guyana Lottery Company’s popular Let’s Bet Sports game has thrown its support behind the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) for its first tournament of 2019.

The knockout competition, featuring first and second division rivalry, will tip off on March 15 at Burnham Court.

Assistant Brand Manager of Let’s Bet Sport, Joel Lee, expressed at the launch at Palm Court on Friday: “Let’s Bet is the baby of the Lottery Company…we are new in the Sports Betting business. Coming on board with GABA is a good imitative to be a part of and we look forward to be closer partners with GABA and other sporting ventures in Guyana.”

“We want to be involved in community development using community sports; we don’t want to just be promoting betting…every time you purchase a ticket you are aiding in the development of your country since Let’s Bet is ours,” Rawle Toney, Brand Ambassador, expressed.

Next Friday, Sonics and UG Trojans will contest the opener, then Kobras take on Eagles in the second match of the night, both for a spot in the ‘final four’ to battle Pacesetters and Plaisance Guardians, respectively.

The following night, March 16, the ‘final four’ will battle for a spot in the finale, which is billed for Sunday, March 17.

For the second division, it will be a five-team single elimination with Sonics and Vikings trashing it out for a stake in the ‘final four’, which already has Guardians, Pacesetters and Eagles already in the semi-final stage.

That leg of the tournament starts on March 19, and will run for seven days. However, the most senior division will see eight teams battling for top honours, but must get the Sonics/UG clash out of the way to see who makes the final eight.

Matches will start at 18:30h and 20:30h.
