PCL: Shepherd, Bramble the standouts on 22-wicket day

Romario Shepherd picked up six wickets and Anthony Bramble scored the lone fifty of the day as 22 wickets tumbled on day one between Guyana Jaguars and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Providence on Thursday.

The day/night encounter forms part of 10th round action of Cricket West Indies’ Professional Cricket League Regional Four-day Championship.

The Jaguars ended the day 28 runs ahead. Scores in the match: Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 120 and 17-2; Guyana Jaguars 165.

Shepherd claimed career-best figures of 5-24 off 9.1 overs, as Red Force never really recovered from 14-4. Sherfane Rutherford claimed 2-31 off seven overs; Red Force batted 32.1 overs.

Imran Khan topscored with 37, Tion Webster 30 and Odean Smith 19.

Jaguars, looking for a win to secure a fifth straight title, stumbled to 42-4, before Bramble’s 62 held the innings together. Smith picked up 3-37, Daniel St. Clair 3-29 and Anderson Phillip 2-63.

Batting a second time and looking to erase a deficit of 45, Red Force slipped to 17-2 by the close with Shepherd removing Jeremy Solozano first ball and Rutherford dismissing Webster for seven.
