Guyana’s badminton champion Narayan Ramdhani has made it through to the semi-finals of the Men’s Singles event of the 2019 Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association’s National Badminton Championship in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Currently on a five-year scholarship in that country, Ramdhani continued his rapid rise in the sport, representing King’s University Eagles.

In the round-robin playoff, Ramdhani won three of his four games to secure a ‘final four’ spot. The 20-year-old defeated Jonah Wilson 21-8, 21-6, Ramnish Kumar 21-16, 16-21, 21-11 and Jaryd Morrissey 21-16, 17-21, 21-13, with his only loss coming at the hands of nemesis Nicholas Pittman 13-21, 21-12, 14-21.

The championship is being contested by top players from Colleges and Universities, hunting national supremacy. The players would have qualified for this event based on their performances in the Inter-Colleges and Universities tournament, which concluded last month.
