PPP urges women to jump on campaign trail to return PPP to office

Sheila Versammy, President of Women’s Progressive Organisation (WPO), Sunday afternoon urged women to “jump” on the campaign trail and ensure victory for the PPP at the next general elections.

“We shall leave no stone un-turned until democracy is returned…until sugar workers are given dignity of working and providing for family,” she said to loud cheers from the hundreds who turned out for the annual commemoration of the death anniversary of Dr Cheddi Jagan at Babu Jaan on the Corentyne Coast.

She said women should find inspiration and strength in Jagan’s wife, Janet, who she said walked the land as strong as a mountain.

“The call is loud for us to hear,” she said in her rallying call to reverse was she said was the current situation where democracy is at stake and the constitution is violated.
