A Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo family is counting their losses after they were attacked and robbed in their home by two men and a woman at around 19:30hrs Saturday.
Police Headquarters revealed that the family was robbed for cash, jewellery and other valuables; the victims were assaulted by the unmasked perpetrators and had to receive treatment at the West Demerara Hospital.
According to the police, the vehicle which was reportedly used in the commission of the crime, was intercepted on the West Coast of Demerara.
The driver, who was the lone occupant, was found in possession of an unlicensed pistol with six live rounds.
He is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
