37-Y-0 man found guilty of raping girl, 7

Thirty-seven-year-old Clinton Anthony Doris was Wednesday found guilty by a 12-member jury at the High Court of raping a 7-year-old girl.

He engaged in sexual penetration of the child on March 27, 2014, in the county of Essequibo.

The matter is presided over by High Court judge, Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the Sexual Offences Court.

Doris was represented by Attorney Ravindra Mohabir and the State’s case was presented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave, Sarah Martin, and Seeta Bishundial.

Doris will be sentenced on March 28, 2019, as the court awaits a probation report.

The court heard that the child was walking home from school when Doris lured her into the house by telling her he had candy.

Her parents reported it to the police after the child went home crying.
