Thirty-three-year-old Adrian Cole of Campbellville, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Thursday where he admitted to defrauding a man of $325,000.

Cole pleaded guilty to the charge which read that between September 29, 2017, and October 6, 2017, at Campbellville, while being solely entrusted by Harvey Sutherland with the sum on $325,000, to purchase a vehicle transmission, he converted the money to his own use and benefit.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that both parties are known to each other and that Sutherland gave Cole the money to purchase the transmission for his Tacoma vehicle.

However, Cole failed to purchase the item and was not seen again.

Sutherland reported the matter to the Kitty Police Station and Cole was arrested last week by the Police.

In court, Cole said he had opted to repay the money but Sutherland refused to accept the money.

The Chief Magistrate released Cole on $20,000 pending sentencing on March 20, 2019.
