Two men were remanded to prison Monday by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm at a pregnant woman and her 13-year-old son.

Devon Gillis, 26 of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown and Andre Scott, 26 of Albouystown, Georgetown were charged jointly with two counts of discharging a loaded firearm.

Particulars of the charge alleged that on March 8, 2019, at Campbell and Sussex Street, Albouystown, they discharged a loaded firearm at Anastasia Rodrigues with intent to maim, disfigure, or cause actual bodily harm.

The second charge alleged that on the same day and location, the duo discharged a loaded firearm at Rodrigues’ 13-year-old son.

The duo denied the charges and was represented by Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that on the day in question, the two men went to Rodrigues’ home to inquire about her nephew’s whereabouts.

According to the Prosecutor, Gillis and Scott, who were armed with guns, opened fire at Rodrigues and her son, who was shot in his right hand.

The Chief Magistrate remanded them to prison until April 8, 2019.
