A 26-year-old miner on Monday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged with two counts of robbery, assaulting and wounding Police Officers.

Orin Ridley of Campbell Street, Albouystown, Georgetown was remanded to prison until March 25, 2019, after denying the four charges; he did not have legal representation.

Particulars of the first charge alleged that on January 31, 2019, at Albert Street, Albouystown, Ridley while being armed with a gun, robbed Sanela Ramlakan of a BLU cell phone and other items amounting to $24,000.

The second charge alleged that on the same day in question, Ridley while being armed with a gun, robbed Akash Ramlakan of an $18,000 bicycle.

The third charge alleged that on March 12, 2019, at Campbell and Sussex Street, Albouystown, Ridley wounded Police Corporal, Clive Clarke with intent to prevent his lawful apprehension.

The last charge alleged that on the same day in question, Ridley assaulted Police Officer Nigel Reid.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield opposed to Ridley being released on bail citing the seriousness and penalty of the charge.

The Prosecutor also told the court that Ridley recently served a prison sentence for similar charges.
