Man found guilty of raping girl, 4

Dwayne Hamilton, 28, was on Wednesday found guilty by a High Court jury of raping a 4-year-old on February 21, 2007.

The trial was heard before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow in the Sexual Offences Court of the High Court.

Hamilton was represented by Attorney Ravindra Mohabir while the State’s case was presented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave, Seeta Bishundial and Sarah Martin.

Hamilton’s lawyer requested time for a probation report to be prepared for his client before sentencing.

As such, sentencing has been postponed to April 5, 2019.

The court heard that the little girl had just exited the washroom when Hamilton, who was 16 years old at the time, grabbed her and took her to the back of the yard where he raped her.

The court was told that the child’s mother caught him in the act and reported the matter to the Police.

Hamilton was subsequently arrested after being on the run for a short while.
