Prolonged blackout following fire at Sophia

Residents of various communities on the East Coast of Demerara experienced approximately twelve hours of blackout on Wednesday after a fire at Sophia Dam, Greater Georgetown damaged a Guyana Power and Light pole.

According to GPL, due to inaccessibility to the dam to accommodate pole planting equipment, remedial work to replant the structures was done manually, causing additional delay.
