Ramdhani is MVP and Athlete-of-the-Year at King’s University

Guyana’s ace badminton player Narayan Ramdhani was voted Most Valuable Player and Athlete-of-the-Year at King’s University awards night in Canada at the weekend.

Ramdhani, who was outstanding for King’s University during the past season, was bestowed with several other awards on the night.

Apart from the two above-mentioned accolades, the 20-year-old was also recognised for winning Gold at the ACAC Championship and placing number one in Alberta; for winning Gold and Bronze at the CCAA National Championship and placing number three in Canada; and for winning the ACAC All-Conference Award for Outstanding Achievement in the field of College Sports in Alberta, and for having been selected on the 2018-19 All-Conference Badminton team.

Ramdhani also excelled in several tournaments during his first year representing King’s Eagles Badminton team.

Those include two Gold and two Silver medals in the ACAC tournaments and the King’s University Doubles in Edmonton. He also gathered two fourth place finishes and a fifth in Doubles action during the past year.

In a brief statement, the Guyana Badminton Association said it is extremely pleased about the performance of Ramdhani.

“No doubt he is one of Guyana’s most consistent and decorated athlete who continues to show his talent and success in the international arena,” the Association said.
