A Bartica woman has died after she was stabbed early Wednesday morning by a man who went berserk after his birthday party.
Dead is Patricia James.
Police reported that Raphael Charles, who had a speech impairment, celebrated his 23rd birthday with friends in Bartica on Tuesday night.
However, after his friends retired to bed, Charles was left in the company of 15-year-old Rodwell Charles, who was watching television.
At about two and a half hours after midnight, Charles reportedly suddenly took up a knife and slashed the teen’s neck.
He then proceeded into the house of Patricia James and her husband Keith James and dealt them several stabs about their bodies, causing severe injuries.
They reportedly ran out of the house. Charles then reportedly raped a 14-year-old girl.
Later, Charles was seen by the others hanging himself in James’ house.
The victims were all taken to the Bartica District Hospital where they were seen by doctors and admitted as patients and subsequently referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
Mrs James succumbed to her injuries on Thursday. Police said Keith James and his son, Rodwell Charles, are in a stable condition.
