A miner was on Thursday evening shot in the right ankle and leg as he pursued three bandits who had just robbed three persons at back Street, One Mile Wismar, Linden.

Police Headquarters said that Omeanna Davis, Jermaine Adams and Fidel Smith were in the lower flat of the house at about 20:00hrs when they were attacked by three males, one armed with a handgun and the others with knives.

The suspects relieved the victims of an iPhone 8 plus, two gold chains and a sum of money.

Police said the victims were locked in a bathroom while the bandits proceeded to another house.

However, the suspects were met with fierce resistance from a male occupant which caused them to flee empty-handed.

An alarm was raised and the miner, 33-year-old Marvis Edwards who was nearby, pursued the suspects and during the process, was shot.

The perpetrators managed to escape in a waiting motor car which was later found abandoned at a location in Canvas St, Wismar.

The stolen iPhone was recovered at an abandoned house in Amelia’s Ward.

Two males are in custody assisting with the investigation, police said.
