A 15-year-old student of a City Secondary school was on Sunday arrested for possession of cannabis.
According to the police, the teen was spotted in Albouystown, Georgetown acting in a suspicious manner by two policemen on patrol duty.
He was approached by the cops when he ran into his house: ranks pursued him and confiscated a green bulky haversack which he had in his possession.
The haversack was searched and contained three transparent plastic parcels with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, police said.
He was arrested and taken to Ruimveldt Police Station along with the suspected cannabis where it was weighed and amounted to 1,445 grams (three pounds).
The teen’s mother was summoned to the station to give a statement and an investigation has since been launched.
