Mahadeo, Zalman reign supreme at Fitness Challenge

Dillon Mahadeo on Sunday proved once again why he is regarded the fittest man in Guyana, storming to a fourth straight Fitness Challenge win.

The fitness standout emerged top of a competitive field of athletes at the Kares Engineering title-sponsored one-day event, staged on the National Park Tarmac.

Mahadeo, the CrossFit 592 athlete, won the event easily, amassing 15 points to claim the title for the fourth time in the five-year history of the competition.

The athlete with the lowest point was declared champion. Kelvin Baul of Fusion Fitness copped second with 56 points, followed by Omisi Williams of Perry Fitness Gym on Linden with 57 points.

On the female side, Ava Zalman of Rock CrossFit of Suriname won with 22 points, followed by the Guyanese pair, former champion Semonica Duke of Genesis Fitness second with 26 points and defending champion Delice Adonis of CrossFit 592 third with 29 points.

The athletes had to perform specific tasks and overcome obstacles, with the title of champion and bragging rights for one year being the reward.

The top three athletes in both the male and female categories received G$300,000, G$200,000 and G$100,000 respectively.

Event One – Morning Run; No Time Cap (One Mile Run, 35 Toes to Bar, 35 Wallball, 141b/20lb, One Mile Run)

Event Two– Double Trouble X3 Complete Three Rounds – time cap 12 minutes (25 Double Unders, 25 Single Arm Kettle Bell Ground to overhead 35lb/55lb, 25 Double Unders, 25m sled push 165lb/205lb)

Event Three– A and B Weightlifting Sprint Part A, time cap three minutes (Nine Snatches 65lb/95lb, Six Snatches 85lb/135lb, Three Snatches 105lb/155lbs. Part B Amrap in Two Minutes Max Reps Squat cleans 125lb/175lb).

Event Four –The Twist Complete – Time Cap: 12 minutes (24 Thrusters 65lb/95lb, 12 Chest to Bar Pull Ups for Women/Muscle Ups for Men, 24 Deadlifts 140lb/200lb, 12 Handstand Push Ups, 50 M Farmer’s carry 140lb/200lb).

Event Five– Final Climb Time Cap 15 Mins – For The Top Five Men and Top Five Women – (Three Rope Climbs, Two Bag Carry, Six DB Burpee Box Step Over, Six Burpee Wall Overs, 25 Cal Assault Bike – 35 For Men, Six Burpee Wall Overs, Six DB Burpee Box Step Overs, Two Bag Carry, Two Rope Climbs, Three for Men, One Bag Carry).
