Rivals Annandale Secondary and Christianburg Wismar Secondary will meet in the semi-finals of the seventh annual Milo Schools Football tournament, after dominating their respective quarter-final matches at the weekend.

At the start of the tournament, one had expected both of these teams to reach the final stages given their stellar exploits in 2018. Now they meet again for another huge battle at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Led by national youth player Omari Glasgow, Annandale steamrolled Charlestown 4-0 on Saturday in their quarter-final fixture.

Glasgow made his conversions in the 50th and 59th minutes. He got support from Collin Hendricks in 32nd and Jemar Harrigon in the 91st.

After the match, Harrigon touted his team’s fitness has given them the edge, and they still have more to unleash in the upcoming big clash.

Christianburg thumped Vergenogen 4-1, compliments of a hat-trick from the prolific Tyrese Lewis (38th, 70th & 72nd) and a single strike by captain Andre Mayers (18th). Jevan Levans scored for the West Demerara unit in the 35th.

The other semi-final will be contested by former champions Lodge Secondary and President’s College.
Lodge defeated St. John’s College 1-0 via Dorwin George strike in the 17th, while President’s College edged Bishops’ High 2-1.

Malachi Richards continued his rich form with a strike in the 41st, but it was not enough to hold off the equalising goal from Jesse Thomas in the same minute and then the winner from Edron Stephens in the 56th.

On Sunday, the lads from Annandale play Christianburg Wismar in the first match at 14:00h, followed by Lodge against President’s College from 16:00h. The winners will move forward to the final on April 14.
