Two arrested, gun & mask found after dramatic Police chase

Two men are in Police custody after they were found to be in possession of an unlicensed pistol, nine live rounds of ammunition and a mask on Monday.

Prior to being arrested, the men led Police on a high-speed chase on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) after the law men stopped the car they were in at around 13:00hrs at Industry ECD.

Police Headquarters revealed that the ranks “tactfully” approached the vehicle which had the driver and another male occupant but the driver sped off.

However, the car was intercepted when the male occupant exited the car with a handgun and removed a fake license plate from the vehicle before escaping into an empty lot.

Police found him hiding in a clump of bushes with the illegal gun and ammo and the mask was found nearby.

They both remain in Police custody.
