Mother of 5 accused of drug trafficking

Danisha Harris, a 33-year-old mother of five, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with being in possession of 91 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

The court heard that Harris was caught by the Police at her Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown home during a raid on March 29.

Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that Police acted on a tip and visited the house but when the approached the door, Harris ran to the back of the house with a bulky plastic bag.

The court heard that the ranks chased after her and saw when she threw the bag out of a window.

Police retrieved the bag and found a quantity of leaves, seeds and stem suspected to be cannabis.

With no objection from the Prosecutor, Harris was granted $120,000 bail and ordered to report to the Kitty Police Station every Friday until the completion of the trial.

The case was adjourned to April 24, 2019
