Indonesian national killed while cutting down tree in Kurubaru Backdam

An investigation has been launched into the death of a 45-year-old Indonesian national, Daniel Sambara who died on Friday while felling a tree at West Kurubaru Backdam in the Demerara River.

News Room understands that Sambara was a Chainsaw Operator of Mabura Hill.

Police said that at around 9:00hrs, Sambara was struck on the head by the root from another tree that was displaced by the one he cut down.

He also sustained a broken right leg. He was pronounced dead at the Linden Hospital and his body was later escorted to the Lyken Funeral Parlour.
