Police have arrested a 52-year-old miner of Stanleytown, Berbice who shot his reputed wife in the left arm in the wee hours of Sunday at Third Avenue Bartica Beach Front.
Police Headquarters revealed that the 49-year-old victim, Ava Abrams who is also a miner, had just closed her shop at around 02:00hrs and was sitting in her vehicle at the beach front when the suspect attacked her.
News Room understands that following an argument, he allegedly drew his pistol and shot her once to the left hand just above the wrist.
The victim was taken to the Bartica Hospital where she underwent surgery to have the bullet removed.
She is in a stable condition, Police said.
Police said the suspect is a licensed firearm holder; he remains in custody and the weapon has been lodged.
