Rayon Griffith promoted to West Indies Assistant Coach

Guyanese Rayon Griffith has been elevated to the position of Assistant Coach of West Indies Senior Men’s for the Ireland Tri-Nation series and the 50-Over World Cup in England.

According to a release by Cricket West Indies (CWI) Monday, Griffith is one of four assistant coaches to interim Head coach Floyd Reifer, and his focus will be on fielding. It was a position previously held by Esuan Crandon, Griffith’s senior in the Guyana Jaguars.

Griffith previously had stints with the West Indies ‘A’ team where he worked alongside Reifer. The 40 year-old who ascended to Guyana Jaguars appointment due to Crandon’s elevation, forms part of the restructured management implemented by the new Ricky Skerritt led administration.

The squad for the Tri-Series in Ireland will meet up with the coaching team at a training camp in Barbados which started on Monday.

Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams said, “CWI have, in consultation with interim Head Coach Floyd Reifer, assembled a strong support group of coaches to work with the squad for the Tri-Series against Ireland and Bangladesh as we prepare for the World Cup. This support group will continue throughout the ICC Cricket World Cup in England.

Jimmy Adams added, “The training camp is now taking place in Barbados, as the CCG in Antigua is currently being used as a venue for the West Indies U15 Super50 Cup, where there will be heavy usage of the ground and training facilities.”
