Rayon Griffith promoted to West Indies Assistant Coach
Guyanese Rayon Griffith has been elevated to the position of Assistant Coach of West Indies Senior Men’s for the Ireland Tri-Nation series and the 50-Over World Cup in England.
According to a release by Cricket West Indies (CWI) Monday, Griffith is one of four assistant coaches to interim Head coach Floyd Reifer, and his focus will be on fielding. It was a position previously held by Esuan Crandon, Griffith’s senior in the Guyana Jaguars.
Griffith previously had stints with the West Indies ‘A’ team where he worked alongside Reifer. The 40 year-old who ascended to Guyana Jaguars appointment due to Crandon’s elevation, forms part of the restructured management implemented by the new Ricky Skerritt led administration.
The squad for the Tri-Series in Ireland will meet up with the coaching team at a training camp in Barbados which started on Monday.
Director of Cricket, Jimmy Adams said, “CWI have, in consultation with interim Head Coach Floyd Reifer, assembled a strong support group of coaches to work with the squad for the Tri-Series against Ireland and Bangladesh as we prepare for the World Cup. This support group will continue throughout the ICC Cricket World Cup in England.
