A Mocha, East Bank Demerara woman, Sophia Kissoonlall is calling for justice after her husband of 22 years was killed in a ‘hit and run’ accident at Providence, East Bank of Demerara (EBD) Monday.
Forty-three-year-old Arnold Kissoonlall, a father of four, was riding a bicycle when he was struck down in the vicinity of the bridge which separates Peters Hall from Providence village.
The incident occurred at about 15:30hrs.
Speaking with the News Room at her lot 46 Nelson Street Mocha EBD home, Sophia pleaded with anyone who may have information on the vehicle that killed her husband to contact the police.
“I’m just asking anybody that see anything, just say something so we can know something so we can do what we have to do,” she pleaded as she struggled to hold back tears.
“You can’t hit somebody and leave them on the roadside like that and just drive away. I need justice for this. Whoever do it, gosh, you don’t have a conscience?” the crying woman said.
Sophia said she married her husband at 15; they have four children who are now, 15, 16, 18 and 20 years old.
She told the News Room that at the time of the accident, her husband was heading to a grocery shop to purchase “puja stuff” for the Texila American University where he was a maintenance worker.
The campus said he left the facility at approximately 03:22hrs, just eight minutes before he was killed.
Police said it would appear that the pedal cyclist was riding north along the eastern lane of the western carriage of the East Bank public road when he was struck down.
