Suspect shot by cops after robbing Nurses

A 27-year-old man of ‘D’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital under police guard after he was shot in the abdomen by cops Tuesday night.

Police Headquarters revealed that the suspect allegedly robbed two trainee nurses on Main Street, Georgetown and was apprehended by public-spirited citizens and handed over to the police.

Police claimed that while being escorted to the Diamond/Grove East Bank Demerara Police Station Lockups, the suspect fled from the police vehicle on High Street and after a period of pursuit, was shot by one of the cops.

“The Guyana Police Force applauds the efforts by members of the public for supporting law enforcement and wishes to thank those responsible for the apprehension of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing,” Police Headquarters noted in their statement.
