Children of man struck down during morning walk pleads for help to find suspect
The children of a 64-year-old man killed in a hit and run accident about two months ago while he was on an early morning walk are calling on persons with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to step forward.
Jeewan Baldeo, who was known as ‘One Hand’ of 113 Grove Village, East Bank of Demerara died immediately after he was struck down at about 05:19 hrs. on March 3, 2019, in front of Sheriff Restaurant at Grove Public Road.
The News Room obtained footage from the family that shows a yellow Toyota Ist that may have been the car involved in the hit and run.
The man’s children, speaking with the News Room, said their father would usually go for an early morning walk and it was about 10 minutes into his walk he was hit by the car.
His daughter, Marlyn Calpoo, said that as far as she knows the Police has no leads.
“The Police… are not giving us anything; they are just having us back and forth.
“I went to GRA and get the number when we take it to the Police [they] call in the car…they said it was not that car.”
The Police have so far discovered seven cars with the description of the one in the surveillance footage and are doing their investigations.
No one has been arrested for the man’s death.
The family wants justice, saying only this will help them to get closure and so they will not rest until the person responsible is behind bars.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the driver of the car is asked to make contact with Amanda on Tel: 645 4321 or the nearest police station.
