51-Y-0 man found guilty of rape, sexual assault of young girl

A 51-year-old man was on Thursday convicted by a 12-member jury for carnal knowledge and three counts of indecent assault committed on a nine-year-old girl in 2008.

Gingesh Khan, called “Links,” was on trial before Justice Brassington Reynolds at the High Court. The jury found him guilty the three counts of indecent assault and one count of carnal knowledge.

The offences occurred between August 1 and August 31, 2008.

Khan was represented by Attorney Ravindra Mohabir, while the State’s case was presented by Prosecutors Seeta Bishundial and Lisa Cave.

Khan was remanded to prison and will return to court for sentencing and a probation report on May 14, 2019.

According to reports, Khan is known to the victim. The child told her parents and the matter was reported to the police.
