80 cocaine pellets found in ECD hotel, 3 arrested

Ranks of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Saturday arrested three men in connection with 80 cocaine pellets found at an East Coast Demerara (ECD) hotel.

Police said a man was found with the substance weighing in excess 900 grams in the hotel. It is believed that the pellets were meant to be swallowed by an outgoing passenger on an international flight at one of Guyana’s International Airport.

Further investigations led the police to a residence on the East Coast of Demerara where an unlicensed firearm with ammunition was discovered and two other persons were arrested.

Police said one other person is being sought as investigations continue.
