Roy Abrahams, a 39-year-old Labourer who had escaped from the Alberttown Police Station, was sentenced to serve nine months in prison Friday by Magistrate Leron Daly after he confessed to the offence.

The court heard that Abrahams was in custody at the Police station in Georgetown on April 24 following a simple larceny allegation when he escaped.

“They keep locking me up steady steady, so I had to find a way to escape…I pick the lock and I beat out. Them catch me back though,” Abrahams told the court.

Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh told the Court that Abrahams was handcuffed and place in the inquiry department to sit, but he managed to get out of the handcuffs and ran out of the Police station.

He was caught on May 2.
